Which advantages do the surface
discharge spark plugs have?
1.The skirt of insulator is exposed more to burning gas,
thus absorbs more heat, under low speed and load it has
more high working temperature to avoid oil dirt and carbon.
Under high speed and load the gas in cylinder will flow
violently and thereby to increase the hot adaptability
efficaciously.
2.Long discharge distance lead up to reducing the weakening
flame of electrode and long duration of inductance discharge
produces nucleus of flame with high energy. Besides, the
absolute quantity of mixed gas between electrodes is big
and the heat produced by burnt is much bigger than the
heat of from environmental mixed gas. So the flame will
spread quickly, and the mixed gas will burn fully. In
the result the exhaust of active harmful gas will be reduced
and the force of engine, economy of fuel oil and working
ability will be improved.

3. The electro-spark will burn up the oil dirt and carbon
on the surface of insulator for sparkling along the surface.
There is no possibility to produce link between electrodes
and avoid the electro-leakage for deposition between insulator
and steel housing after burning. Under low speed it keeps
the sparkling reliability still.
4.Greatly reduce the burning up of centre electrode for
reducing the length of part stretched, especially under
continuous high speed, load, and exhaustion. However the
centre electrode of the spark plug with three side electrodes
will burn up easily for its long centre one.
So, this kind of spark plugs is suitable for engines with
high compression, strong power and fuel possessed of high
calorific value.
